Independent with solar power from SOLARA
Solar systems for your holiday home – solar power in the garden shed
Electricity at your favorite spot too
Not every holiday home is connected to the regional power grid. Garden houses or cabins by some enchanting lake or in the most beautiful spot in the world therefore rely on other energy sources. With SOLARA solar modules for generating electricity, you can transform the roof of your holiday home into a reliable energy supplier for everything that contributes to your home comforts. Electricity from your own SOLARA photovoltaic system makes you permanently independent of local energy providers. So you can enjoy your leisure time in your idyllic retreat without having to forgo the amenities that require electricity. Whether it's the refrigerator, lights, computer, television, or charging your mobile phone:
With our high-performance solar cells, individually tailored to your daily needs, you can generate as much electricity with your holiday home as you need for the respective appliances.
We'd be happy to advise you on selecting the right solar system for your needs. You'll find all the important information about individual modules, charge controllers, mounting systems, inverters, and complete systems on this website. Simply use the planning sheet to plan your solar system.
This is how a solar power system works
Always have power, even without a mains connection – that's the motto. SOLARA modules for your holiday home or garden house, complete with a suitable charge controller and indicator, produce the electricity you need without sacrificing comfort. Enjoy your freedom.
SOLARA's solar technology is simple and offers
- high service quality before and after the purchase
- best material quality and workmanship
- high returns and long-term guarantees
- High-quality additional components from premium manufacturers

For your holiday home or garden house, you will need, as shown in the drawing.
- a SOLARA module (e.g., from the S-series) for power generation,
- a roof feedthrough (part no. DD1 in white) for watertight and permanent routing of the cable from the solar module to the charge controller,
- a charge controller with LED display for monitoring the battery and charge level and for protecting the battery from overcharging and reverse currents,
- a UV-resistant cable for connecting the solar module to the charge controller and the battery,
- a mounting system for mounting the solar module,
- one or more batteries,
- If necessary, an inverter for 230 volt household electricity.
SOLARA® for your holiday home
Before deciding on one of our solar modules, we recommend a thorough review of the specific circumstances. The energy requirements for your holiday home depend primarily on the number of occupants, the size of the property, and, consequently, the number of energy consumption points. You should ask yourself the following questions:
- Are you mostly alone or with your whole family in the house?
- Do you only use your house in the summer, or only on weekends, or all year round?
- Geographically, where is your house located? (Sunny days and solar radiation vary greatly depending on latitude.)
Simply fill out our planning form – then we can offer you the right solar system!
The planning sheet serves to gather all relevant information and forms the basis for your future solar system.
Three steps to the SOLARA set for your holiday home
Step 1: Determining individual daily requirements
You can obtain a reliable estimate of your daily energy consumption by listing all the individual appliances in your home, such as lights, radio, or refrigerator, and multiplying each by its respective operating time. The sum of these values will give you your total daily energy requirement in watt-hours.
| Gerät | Rated capacity | Operating hours/day | Consumption/day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Radio | 15 watts | 4h | 60 Wh/d |
| Color TV | 40 watts | 3h | 120 Wh/d |
| 12V SAT Receiver | 40 watts | 3h | 120 Wh/d |
| Lamps | 10 watts | 5h | 50 Wh/d |
| Compressor refrigerator | 50 watts | 6h | 300 Wh/d |
| Total daily requirement | 650 Wh/d | ||
Step 2: Determining the appropriate solar module

For the daily energy requirement in this example, a solar module with approximately 160 Wp (watt peak = maximum power) is needed during the summer months.
Here we recommend, for example, a SOLARA S-Class solar module with the usual SOLARA quality.
- Module power up to 250 Wp
- High-performance solar cells with excellent low-light performance
- tempered special glass that withstands even snow, ice and hail
- Sturdy aluminum frame for easy assembly
- 26-year performance guarantee “Made in Germany”
Step 3: Choosing the right charge controller for your solar panel
Solar panels need a good charge controller to prevent damage to the battery from overcharging or reverse current.
Simply multiply the nominal power of the solar module and select the charge controller with the corresponding module power that matches the result.
We recommend the MORNINGSTAR single-circuit controller with an epoxy-encapsulated circuit board. These controllers are microprocessor-controlled, feature automatic switching between 12 and 24 volts, and can also charge gel batteries. Equipped with a temperature sensor, deep discharge protection, a regulated charging curve with PWM charging, electronic fuses, and a 5-year warranty, they are ideally suited for yachts.
For additional yields of 15 to 20% per day, we recommend the MORNINGSTAR MPPT controller. Optimally suited for the M-series modules with more than 36 solar cells.
We also recommend a SOLARA LED indicator for your battery status.
